JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Name: Photographer / Videographer 

Classification: Subcontractor

Compensation: Commissions* and Profit Sharing Bonuses

*Additional shoots and commissions are available to photographers with drone license and CR video training completion

Reports to: Operations Manager and Creative Director

 

Purpose:

Photograph houses, buildings, interiors, and other subjects as needed, in Chattanooga and surrounding areas, for use in marketing materials. Produce photos that will primarily be used to market the sale of homes, as well as portfolio purposes for builders, designers, and architects.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Determine project goals, locations, and equipment needs by studying order details and consulting with the operations manager prior to arriving on site for shoot.

  • Test equipment prior to use to ensure that it is in good working order.

  • Perform maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment working properly. Access to backup equipment including camera and drone is preferred.

  • Use digital cameras, along with a variety of equipment, such as tripods and filters.

  • Determine desired images and picture composition, selecting and adjusting subjects, equipment, and lighting to achieve desired effects.

  • Adjust apertures, shutter speeds, and camera focus according to a combination of factors, such as lighting, field depth, subject motion and film speed.

  • Estimate or measure light levels, distances, and numbers of exposures needed.

  • Transfer photographs and cull raw files to computers for upload delivery.

  • Send “daily report” to Operations Manager, Finance Director, Creative Director, and Editor at the end of each shift, no later than 7 pm EST. 

  • Update commission spreadsheet daily.

  • Attend weekly team meetings

 

 

Requirements:

  • Equipment -  Photographer / Videographer is responsible for supplying their own equipment and tools

  • Transportation - Reliable transportation is required.

  • Education and / or experience - High school diploma, portfolio covering 2 years of photo/video experience in any genre, valid FAA drone license (or willingness to obtain license within 90 days of employment). Real estate photography experience is preferred, but not required.


 

Physical Demands:

The photographer / videographer is regularly required to:

 

  • Sit 

  • Use hands to manipulate equipment

  • Talk and hear

  • Stand 

  • Walk and reach with hands and arms 

  • Safely lift and/or move items up to 30 pounds. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. 

 

 

Work Environment:

The photographer / videographer is occasionally exposed to: 
 

  • Various interior environments, ranging from vacant and staged properties to occupied and unprepared/unclean properties

  • Outside weather conditions 

  • Exterior land conditions, including hiking through natural areas and muddy or unmowed areas 

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

  • Exposure to household odors, pet hair/dander

  • Exposure to construction sites, sawdust, and building materials

 

 

Work Schedule:

Based on contractor’s availability, schedule is determined by Operations Manager, seasonal demand, and client requests*. Shoots are normally scheduled between the hours of 8am-5pm, however sunrise and sunset shoots are occasionally scheduled. 

*Schedule prioritization will be given to team members with full-time availability and full photo/video package offerings (training and approval for the following services: photo, drone, walkthrough video, twilights).
